For the rare concentration camp survivors, after the second World War, there is only one hope: join the land of freedom, Israel. From all over the European continent, thousands of Jews flee to the Mediterranean port in order to embark on an old cargo ship. Others, from Morroco, fulfil an act of faith: the Alyah, the return to the promise earth. But on their way, they will have to face a major obstacle: a british marine who won't hesitate to push them back by sending them to a work camp in Cyprus. Lea Goldenberg (Marie-France Pisier), a concentration camp survivor, is looking for her daughter Anna (Sarah Forestier). In France, Antoine (Bernard Campan) is alone with Marc, the son of Jewish friends killed by the nazis. Ashriel Elbaz (Marc Ruchmann) and his sister Perla (Julia Levi), with the help of Dov (Jocelyn Quivrin), French from the Haganah, leave their country to join the land of freedom.
